Join the team behind Spircreat.
Spircreat runs on more than bylines. Here's what we're looking to fill for our first cohort.
HR Intern
You'll manage the intern pipeline: reviewing applications, coordinating onboarding, checking in with the team so people don't quietly disengage. This suits someone people naturally open up to, organized enough to track multiple applicants at once, and genuinely interested in building a good team culture, not just filling seats.
Publications Intern
Editor
You'll work directly with writers on structure, sourcing, and voice before a piece goes live, not just correcting grammar, but pushing a draft until the argument actually holds up. This role is about judgment: knowing when a piece is ready, when it needs another pass, and how to say so clearly, without hesitating or discouraging the writer in the process. We're looking for someone who reads critically, gives feedback people can act on, and has enough conviction to push back on a piece that isn't there yet.
Writer
You'll either be assigned a topic or pick one yourself at the intersection of science and society, chase it down, and file a piece that actually runs under your name. This isn't busywork or a filler byline: you'll be expected to research properly, take feedback from an editor seriously, and revise until the piece is genuinely good. There's no rush to publish a piece until it's up to the mark. We're looking for people who are naturally curious about why something matters, not just how it works, and who'll follow a piece through multiple drafts instead of losing interest halfway.
Website Manager
You'll keep the site itself running and evolving: new pages, fixes, small features as the publication grows. Some technical comfort helps (HTML/CSS or a willingness to learn fast), but what matters more is attention to detail and caring about how the site actually feels to use.
Outreach Manager
You'll be the one building relationships beyond our current circle: reaching potential writers, partner organizations, and readers who wouldn't find us otherwise. We're looking for someone genuinely comfortable cold-messaging people, persistent without being pushy, and able to represent Spircreat's voice in a DM as clearly as we do in an article.
Graphics Intern
You'll shape how Spircreat looks: cover art, social graphics, visual identity across the site and Instagram. We're looking for a distinct eye, not just competence with design tools, we'd rather see a strong, opinionated portfolio than a long list of software you know.
Head of Operations
You'll keep the newsroom actually running: deadlines tracked, workflows sane, people not falling through the cracks. This role suits someone organized by instinct, comfortable chasing people for updates, and interested in how a publication functions behind the scenes, not just what gets published.
